Vesak Festival

                               Vesak festival is the main festival  in Buddhist. Buddhists and some Hindus mainly in South Asia , Southeast Asia and East Asia observed by Vesak. The  birth, enlightenment and Piriniwan of the Buddha take place here. Vesak is celebrated in the month of May. Buddhists go to the temple in this day. Various festivals in the temples are held in parallel with this. Bathi gee competition, Vesak  lanterns competition etc.




        Elders, young, children all are celebrate Vesak festival  happily. Elders observe sil and children , young people create various types of beautiful Vesak lanterns.

                        Take the Rathnapura - Pelmadulla highway and 600m before the Kuttapitiya junction, turn left down the Kuttapitiya road. Continue for 5km to find the fall.   The mountain of sri padha  is one of four major religions in the world worship. The top of the mountain has a huge ''footprint''. It is sacred to three religions at least ; to Buddhists , Muslims and Hindus. Adam's peak also known as Sri pada and Samanala kanda, is a conical mountain standing 2,243m tall in the central high lands of Sri Lanka. The hike includes 5,000 - 6,000 crumbing steps and incline trekking. The best time to climb is between January and may when the weather is at its best, but do avoid days nearing the full moon and the week of Sinhalese New year to avoid long queues to the peak.
